Buyers make up their mind whether they want to buy your home or not within the first few moments of walking through the door. If your home has been on the market for a while, let’s take a look at some small changes you could make that might make a big difference to your perspective purchasers.
Spring Brights
Although we’re moving into Spring, the cooler weather isn’t quite ready to let go, so the desire to stay warm and cosy is still very strong. But do bear in mind that warmer weather is (hopefully!) just around the corner so it’s a good time to pack away any dark coloured and heavy-textured home textiles.
Take advantage of the bright and cheerful Spring styling that’s a big feature with many home furnishing brands, and invest in a lighter shade of rugs, throws, cushions – maybe even curtains if your budget allows.
Let there be light!
Many people are opting to follow the trend of decorating rooms in luxurious dark colours which do look sensational. If you’ve chosen a darker colour palette, make sure you switch on a few tasteful lamps to illuminate these spaces before you show them to potential buyers.
If your home colour scheme is lighter, this rule applies to you too! It always pays to ensure each room is well lit, to eliminate any areas that might appear dark and dingy to buyers!
Our Golden Rule with lighting – ALWAYS opt for warm white bulbs as opposed to the icy white version which can make rooms look and feel cold and stark.
Bedroom Brights
Do your bedrooms look calm and restful? Or are they mismatched and cluttered? Now is a great time to invest in some new bed linen that will give your bedrooms a bright, crisp look while you’re selling – and once you’ve sold, you’ve got a fabulous fresh look that you can take with you to your new home! Finishing Touches
Introducing some seasonal flowers or a sturdy potted plant to your rooms will give the space personality and colour. Two or three framed prints or arty photos hung at the same height along the wall will add interesting features to each room.
