The chances are high that you\u2019re reading this blog after just having finished working from home for the day. Or perhaps you\u2019re in the middle of your quarantine lunch break? Either way, thousands of people have been working from home for the past few weeks and it doesn\u2019t look like we\u2019ll be making our way back into the office anytime soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Working from home can seem like a dream to some people while being a nightmare to others. It can be hard to stay positive and efficient when you\u2019re not in the office, so we\u2019ve compiled a few tips for you here to help you along.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Keep a Routine<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    It might be tempting to stay in your pyjamas all day, but try to keep to your usual morning routine. This means getting up at the same time you would normally, taking a shower, and getting dressed in something other than your pyjamas. This will help you feel less grubby and will make you feel ready to start your workday! It\u2019s also important to stick to your working hours. If you normally work from 9am till 5pm, try to do this at home as well. At the end of your working day, switch off your computer and put your papers away. Time to relax!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Get Out and Exercise<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      When you\u2019re stuck in the house all day you might start to feel like the walls are coming at you (especially you add a few kids to the quarantine mix..). This makes it extra important to get out at least once a day, if you\u2019re not self-isolating that is. Take this as the perfect opportunity to pick running back up and enjoy the fresh air and sunshine.       1. Don\u2019t Forget to Socialise<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        Where you might normally be surrounded by your colleagues, having regular breaks to chat about work or personal issues, you might now find yourself on your own at your desk. Don\u2019t forget to build in moments in your day to socialise. Instead of always speaking to your colleagues over email, give them a call instead. If you would normally catch up and talk about the weekend, try to still do that. Keep in touch and try not to talk about the business exclusively when you do speak to someone. Check what shows they\u2019ve been watching and share your lockdown Netflix recommendations with them!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        And if you really struggle working from home on your own, why not try to work together virtually? Use Skype or Facebook Messenger to video call and then work alongside each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        1. Take Breaks<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

          While you\u2019re working from home in your (hopefully) comfy outfit and in your own space it is even easier to skip lunch or work for an extra hour or two. Try not to do this! It is so important for your mental health and for your productivity to take regular breaks. Try to work in short burst of an hour or two and then have a short break. Imagine being at the office and popping to the kitchen for a cuppa and a quick chat with your colleagues. You will see that this helps with efficiency and it keeps you from going crazy! Also make sure to take your lunch break. You could even combine this with tip 2 and go for a walk around your neighbourhood if the weather is nice. You\u2019ll feel refreshed and ready for the rest of the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
