Spring has finally sprung, and as I’m writing this while basking in the early morning April sunshine, the cold winter months seem very far away.

While every season has its pros and cons when it comes to selling or buying a house, the property UK property market generally really comes to life in the spring. The weather is improving, temperatures are rising, and the days are getting longer. The longer days allow for more time for viewings in daylight hours and the improved weather and freshly blooming trees and plants make for a more visibly attractive setting for your home. These factors aside, it seems like people are generally in a better mood when the weather improves, making for a more pleasant experience.

Selling your home in the spring brings an additional benefit, namely that there are generally more buyers in the market. This makes it more likely that you will be able to generate a larger amount of interest in your property. There is also a higher level of competition, while some people might also be working with a deadline, like wanting to be moved into their new home by the summer to accommodate summer plans,

Some tips to make your property look its very best during springtime:

Ensure your garden looks its best
The outside of your property is just as important as the inside, especially during the sunnier days of the year, when people would like to envision themselves in the garden, enjoying the sunshine and spending time with loved ones. Try accenting your garden or patio area by growing colourful, blooming flowers, like daffodils or violets. Don’t ignore your front garden or driveway either, as this is often the first and last thing a viewer will see, and first impressions matter! Ensure weeds are gone, the lawn has been mowed, and flowers have been pruned, or add a pop of colour to your driveway by placing some potted plants or flowers.

Spring cleaning
A good deep clean does wonders for the appeal of a home. Get rid of any clutter, deep clean your kitchen and living areas, and make sure not to forget about the windows! Sparkling clean windows make both the outside and inside of your home more attractive, and while clean windows might not necessarily draw the attention of your viewers, dirty windows definitely will! No one wants to see fingerprints on the patio doors when that afternoon sun hits the windows in just the right way.

Bring spring inside your home
While the smell of freshly baked bread or cookies during an open day or viewing is lovely, it can feel a bit old and forced, and with the arrival of the warmer weather you could opt for a more floral smell. Add some freshly blooming potted plants to your home if you don’t have them already, and perhaps add a scent diffuser with a light scent or dot some fresh flowers in your reception rooms to bring a bit of spring inside your home.
